Working Smarter not Harder – Taking Advantage of Resources. Many literacy organizations across the State are facing unprecedented financial challenges while experiencing growth. Everyone is being asked to do more with less. Learn free or inexpensive resources for programming that will allow you to weather these times. During the conference, leadership will be equipped to diversify funding and share how they would like NCLA to advocate across the State in the coming program year. Our Keynote Speaker will be President & CEO Jeanne Tedrow of the NC Center for Nonprofits.

May 22 & 23, 2017
NCLA Statewide Conference, Greensboro, NC
The 2017 conference featured built-in networking and benchmarking, a new venue (Deep River Events Center), and a new caterer (Apple Spice Junction). The keynote session was: Advocacy 101 for 501(c)3s by David Heinen of the NC Center for Nonprofits. There were three breakout session tracks for Adult Basic Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Management/Executive Directors.

July 19, 2016:
Benchmarking Conference Call: Successful EL/Civics Programs in NC
A free NCLA benchmarking conference call to help organizations adapt to changes in the IELCE (formerly EL/Civics) program. This one-hour moderated call provided CBOs with an opportunity to learn from NCLA programs across the state.

May 5 & 6, 2016:
NCLA Statewide Conference, Greensboro, NC
With three program tracks focusing on Adult Basic Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Executive Directors, this conference offered 15 different educational courses and two built-in networking opportunities. Participants may access the “members only” section of the NCLA website for follow-up materials.
